possible to compress audio to wma format and save in .avi with virtual dub?

i am able to compress video to wmv format and save an .avi file with virtual dub, but i cannot compress audio to wma format and save it. i get this error:

is there any way to compress audio to wma format with virtual dub? or is it even possible to mux wma audio in a .avi container?

The only way I know of to put wma in avi is to use the divx audio codec (aka wma v2).

I did just read that virtualdub mpeg2 and mencoder might be able to mux wma audio into avi. I do not know if it really works though.
