View Full Version : same settings for a bunch of movies?
I am processing a few recorded .vob files which are all the same size. can i somehow fix the settings, that autogk found in the 1st movie for the following ones? right now autogk is of course performing all the tests in the beginning for each movie...

Some settings can be preset, like the video width (under Advanced Options), which is saved until you change it. The "Custom Size" under Select output size will be remembered until the program is closed, as are any settings changed under Hidden options (Ctrl + F9). AutoGK doesn't allow any settings to be exported or saved otherwise, so the only way would be to load and encode them all at once. Since there are so few settings you can change, you only need to set those to your preference for the first video to stop it from determining them.
thats not exactly what i meant. i mean the tests autogk, infact virtual dub mode, runs to determine the compression, etc. those tests are being run for every movie in the beginning of the conversion. thats unneccessary if all input files are the same in my opinion...

Compressibility varies by content. If they're not all the same scenes over and over, they will have differences. :-)

Plenty of ways you can approach this. Here is one -
Rename your VOB files in sequence. e.g: rename it like VTS_01_01.VOB, VTS_01_02.VOB...VTS_01_0n.VOB.
Use IFOEdit to create an IFO file for all the VOBs.
Now point AutoGK to that and proceed as usual. Now AutoGK will perform all the tests only once for all of the VOBs. If you already have IFO files for each of the VOBs, just point AutoGK to the IFO file of the first VOB.
Remember to set the resolution, target size etc keeping in mind that you are now processing all your VOBs in one shot.
AutoGK will output one big file after the encoding process. Either use that file as is or use VirtualDubMoD to split it as you want.
Another way (perhaps more simple) is to use VOBMerge and join all the clips into one mega VOB and feed just that into AutoGK.

Rename your VOB files in sequence. e.g: rename it like VTS_01_01.VOB, VTS_01_02.VOB...VTS_01_0n.VOB.
Most likely it should be VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB...
Just read the Autogk official FAQ(point 6.12):
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=72679
And I think it is the best method(by Autogk) to merge the vobs, because the other just leave me the avi file which is audio and video non-syn finally.

you wish to save a small amount of time but risk disaster .. same size of vobs does NOT mean equal compressibility try compressing each vob of any film to the same spec and you will either get wildly different quality(same size) or wildly different size, if all the vobs are compressed to same quality
