Any way to fool CCE basic

I use CCE basic with DVDRebuilder Pro to backup my dvds. What I would like to know is there any way to get around the 2 pass limit of CCE Basic?

It would be nice to encode with 3 passes at times.

Maybe there is a way, but they will be illegal, cos you have to change the limits the producers added in the basic version.

It also can't be. Normally you can also remove some code so a hacker can't change the way of your programs way of doing.

ok thanks. I just thought there might have been an addon program that may have done it. The Pro version is out of my price range. Guess I'll just have to be satisfied with the 2 passes.

Quite some time ago, I had purchased CCE SP back when 2.5 was the going version. I used to run 3-4 passes on pretty much everything, but soon started running only 2 because I wound up with plenty of work that I needed to encode, and a limited amount of time to get it all done (we're talking legitiment videography, people -- don't get nervous!). I discovered that I really couldn't tell the difference between the 2-pass encodes and the 3-4 pass encodes so long as I had a decent bitrate to work with. When CCE's programers made the statement that anything past 3 passes is pretty much overkill (or words to that effect)... I was like, "well, that figures!"

Currently, I usually only use 2 passes on DVD backups unless it's a long movie, plenty of high action, or both (Braveheart is a 3-passer since it's both long and full of energy, if that makes sense to you).

At any rate, in most cases 2 passes doesn't look any different than 3 or 4 in my eyes, which can sometimes spot artifacts in studio encodes. You're not really missing out on much. ;)

As the coder of AutoQ3 I'm using mostly 1Pass encodes. Only "The day after tomorrow" was a 2pass encode, cos AQ3 dosn't get the lightnings in the middle of the movie where the problems with the weather starts.
