Can't play a DVD....

...AGAIN! Grrr! I'm so upset.

This time I'm sure it's nothing with copy protection - the damn DVD just won't play the movie! Other DVDs work fine. I have the German release of 'MirrorMask' (which was released two days ago), I use PowerDVD v4 or something with WinXP and I have a 1 1/2 year old DVD-R drive.

I can start the DVD with PowerDVD, access the menus and everything, but once I wanna start the movie I get a black screen and sooner or later PowerDVD crashes.

When I try to open the DVD with DVDShrink, I get an error message telling me "Invalid navigation structure"

I'm desperate, especially because I have to return it til tomorrow night. :(

If I were a pirate, I would have downloaded it from the Internet LONG AGO, rather then wait for it to be released in this lousy country to rent it.

Anyways its ARccOS protected ,hence the error when using DVD shrink,get yourself DVDFab Decrypter (its free)

Note: If you are BACKING UP your own DVD`s,then its not a problem

well, usually I copy DVDs to my drive to watch them later on. when I rent 3 movies, I can't really watch all of them in one night. Usually they go into the trash bin afterwards. And even if I back them up, usually I buy the DVD anyways afterwards. I like having a nice collection of original DVDs with original cases and crap like that. :rolleyes:

Well, I'm not making any progress here. All kinds of Decrypters I've tried so far hung themselves up at the first vob file. I didn't see any progress and I waited (at least with DVD FabDecrypter) for a looong time.
I don't think that's normal is it?

is it a sony disc?
mine was and it took a few goes with+errors before i got it.

have a look at it with DVD Decrypter = cell ID's in Mode/IFO/Input Tab and select the ones with VOB ID 2 and deselect VOB ID 1 cells.
sometimes i pick only 1 cell with VOB ID 2
look within different titles: VTS_02 PGC 1 / VTS_02 PGC 2 etc

when i play around enough with cells +IFOedit i eventually get it.
