Any pointers as to why this happens on my sony DVP-NS4000 dvd player and not the other 4 players that have.

Happens on certain films +this time its happened to DERAILED.

I've tried different media +burning methods and i cant seem to stop the skipping on these films.

I've read that timestamps are an issue.
Anyway of controlling timestamps in IFO Edit or Vob Blanker?

Hi!

SONY standalones are notoriously "picky". When a backup behaves that way, I'd suggest that, whatever ripping program(s) you're using, set it so that it DOESN'T remove either .IFO PUOs or .VOB PUOs...

I checked that idea out....thanks
It is set not to remove either: .IFO PUO or .VOB PUO files.

In modes: File + IFO + ISO Read

It is set... And the "it", I presume, is DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4?

If so, what software are you using to (I presume) compress? Make sure that this compression software is likewise set (If it provides the option) to NOT eliminate the PUOs...

If that still doesn't do the job for you, I can tell you that my favorite commercial program does a fine job of creating DVDs that are always properly played by my SONY, as well as my other standalone players.

@yatz

The software or the way you are editing your dvd before burning is causing a lot of your problems. As setarip mentioned earlier Sony is very picky. I have one myself, but I use PSL2 Plugin/DVD Decrypter, DvdRemake Pro and Imgburn to rip, edit and burn my dvd's. I have no playback issues at all on my TY media.

@yatz

After successfully ripping with DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4, you should try using (freeware) DVD Shrink for compressing and (freeware) IMGBurn (or DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4) to burn...
