Buying a high-quality VCR

I've been looking around at various stores, flea markets, and eBay for good buys on high-quality professional-grade VCRs. I have a bunch of old VHS tapes that were never remastered and slapped on DVD which I've painstakingly taken great care of over the years in the hopes of transferring them and cleaning them up.

I want to hear suggestions on what kind and type of VCR to buy. I've just tried finding ones that had S-video out to maximize the capture quality but don't really know what else to look for in the way of features. Any of you analoge gurus out there please give me some advice!

The JVC's with S-Video are excellent.

Amazon sells the HR-S2902U and the HR-S5902U models. Its a good VCR for the sub $150 price.

However, they do not have TBC or DNR. These are two important features if you want maximum quality.

If you want TBC or DNR and have lots of money, then get the JVC HR-S9800U or the JVC HR-S9911U.
