Does anyone know if it's possible to have forced subs in mkv files? I know in the past it wasn't but I haven't seen anything in the last year.

I guess if it's still not possible I would have to put all my forced subs in subtitle stream 1 and make it the default to on. Any other subs would have to go to stream 2. That way if there's no forced subs, no subtitles would play. Not a sexy workaround but I guess it will work.

Maybe I didn't understand your question properly, but by "forced subs" did you mean subs that are hardburned into the video? If so, what does mkv got to do with it? Why can't you use vsfilter and TextSub() in your avs and hardcode the subs during encoding?

forced subs in mkv files?:search: Matroska have no "no forced subtitles" feature at all :( (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=787171#post787171): always, one subtitle track is showing, and you can call it "forced".
