I think I have a pretty unorthodox way of using DVD-RB. I'll try to explain it...
I used to blank all the things I don't want out with VobBlanker before I run the files through DVD-RB. However, I have found out that sometimes, once processed with DVD-RB/CCE, the random seek stuff didn't work. No idea why. So from then on, I decided just to use the mounted DVD ISO as my source instead of the pre-processed files. Once I prepare, I make sure to select NO REENCODE for all the stuff that are supposed to be blanked out. Now, I do all the blanking afterwards.
I always like my output to max out around 4480 MB, so it should always be 4.37 GB. It seems like DVD-RB doesn't take into consideration the smaller files when processing so I didn't like that really much. The formula I currently use is:
TargetSectors = 4480 + <blanked out> * 1024 * 1024 / 2048 / 1.0135
<blanked out> means how much stuff is to be blanked out from the original source, in MB. I thought this formula was supposed to be straight forward but the output is pretty much random at this point, some oversized, some undersized. :(
