So I'm convering avi files to VCD and mostly DVD2VCD is doing the trick. However, on a few of the files when D2V gets to running besweet something not right is happening. On one of them besweet doesn't even seem to activate, so there's no .mp2 file being made. The other time besweet shows it's header then nothing for hours, apparently locked up. I gave it all night to get over it and it didn't.
I tried loading the file in VDub and changing the settings on the video stream, but not knowing what setings D2V wants I wasn't successfull going that route.
Any suggestions?

Hi!
1) What audio format(s) did you use when you created the original .AVIs?
2) Do these problematic .AVIs play properly, with audio?

1) I don't know.
2) They play properly, yes.

I feel I should direct you to some reading. Start with a quick refresher of the rules. There's a link at the top of the page. I notice you do not know what codecs were used in the creation of these AVI's which immediately makes alarm bells ring that you did not create them. If what you're doing does not comply with rule 6, please do not bring your problems here. However, since you give no indication of what these files are, it is only reasonable for now, to give you the benefit of the doubt.
Next up there are some stickies at the top of the forum. One is called "Problems specific to AVI input". There may be something there to help. Particularly the trick with VDubMod in the first post may be helpful.
Finally, both DVD2SVCD and BeSweet produce logfiles which can be found in the project folder. Perhaps a look in the README's sticky at the top of the forum (and in particular the "How to do a proper post" article) may be helpful in advising you what to do with these.
Cheers

Thank you. I'll do that research.
You were right to be concerned. Coming clean, the videos I was trying to copy to VCD were downloaded off the net. I was unsure of the copyright, so I tried not to disclose their nature. Nothing like full lenth movies or anything. Just the sort of silly intenet video one finds when surfing around that I wanted to share with my less technically inclined family. Once again, I'm not sure how this falls into rule #6. However, that's why some worked, and some didn't.
I've moved on now and are trying to take home videos taken from a digital camera and convert them to VCD. The camera make quicktime moves so I purchased quicktime, used the export fuction to make an AVI and am still playing with the settings. So far I've managed to get video but no audio. The log file seems to indicate everything is fine, but I didn't see BeSweet open up again. I'll see what else I can find out.
Thanks for the reading, I didn't know where to look. There's alot of threads here to catch up on.
