powerdvd, any way to stop it from putting "default" in my HD folder? and

I use media player classic as my "default" software player because powerdvd always puts a "default" listing in my HD folder. now, I have a choice to "open with" either MPC or powerdvd. sometimes I like to open with powerdvd because it's easier to change the audio from audio 1 to audio 2 etc with the powerdvd player. (haven't figured out yet how to change the audio from the default audio with the MPC yet). now when I open with the powerdvd player it puts a default player on- board for "nero" which is a cd software player only. )(*&^%%$%^&*) is there any way to program powerdvd to stop putting the default folder in my HD folder? also is there any way to change the brightness level of the powerdvd or mpc dvd software players? I had a ravisent dvd player that would only work with my old OS and this player would only open up dvds from my dvd player and not dvd HD folders on my hard-drive. you could change all the visual settings (brightness, contrast, etc) on on that player without changing the monitor settings. thx

For PowerDVD 5, 6, 7:
A brightness, contrast, saturation are accessible from video menu only if you open any DVD. In "empty" mode this settings are disabled and absent in menu. Open any DVD, press Ctrl+C, goes to video settings and change it. After changing don't forget to save it in any new or existing slot.
