Here is the problem:
I used to encode with auto gk and DivX - DivX 6.2.2 was installed on my pc.
Then I upgraded DivX to version 6.2.5 and auto gk wasn't working anymore, I had a code 2 error: source is not acceptable.
What do I have to do to fix this? I'd like to continue using DivX codecs and I'm not really into encoding options so I just love auto gk.

I'd like to keep DivX 6.2.5 in order to watch the videos I get. Plus, even if I was willing to go back to DivX 6.2.2, I can't find it anymore on the web.

Thanks so much for any help.

You won't need to have DivX 6.2.5 to watch the videos you "get," whatever that means. The decoding is a little more backwards compatible, meaning older decoders can still allow you to view new encodes.

Google "divx 6.2.2" and you'll find the prior version. It's usually a good idea to archive any version of software for just such a problem.

Auto GK (2.27) + Divx 6.2.5 working fine here.

Looks more like a problem with the SOURCE,than anything to do with Divx 6.2.5

Oh really?
Damn.
The exact error message is "source image format not acceptable", no idea about the meaning. Though, I can preview the output, so the starting vob files should be ok, I guess. Then something goes wrong during the second pass.

-- Videos "I get" are avi videos made by private people out of some recorded tv feed, mostly sport related, legally shared, really cover a huge different group of codecs.

A search with your error message would have found you some immediate help:If VdubMod fails to encode the first pass with "videosourceavi error: the sourceimage format is not acceptable. (error code -2)" you may have to make a manual change in your Windows registry. See TelemachusMH's comment in http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=51906.

I'm sorry I wasn't able to find myself the solution, though I'm still not sure I'll be able to stick to the instructions: registry is a very delicate thing I don't know anything about.

Thank you very much, I'll do my best.
Plus, now I know next time I'll have to google search typing the error message.

ETA
I entered the register editor and followed the path.
The register "vidc.yv12" is already set to the value "DivX.dll".
The only thing I noticed is that the reg name wasn't written in capitol letters, but just as I reported it here.
Now I really have no clue on what to do.

I really appreciate any kind of help, and I'm sorry I'm a newbie.

does it fail on all file types ..ie avi & vobs?

Do the files encode okay using Xvid?
