I have some .avi files which I am trying to make dvds from. I input the file into Virtualdub to brighten it up, but when I try to reencode the audio, I get the message "no installed codec found to decompress audio." Then it said to install codec (Microsoft audio codecs). So far as I know, I have all the codecs which come with Windows XP sp2 installed. I tried Microsoft's solution and simply got all tangled up. Trying to wade through Microsoft's help is impossible.

Is there anywhere I can figure out what codec Virtualdub wants?

I am very new at this and everything is really like trying to read Greek.

Thanks for any help.

Hi!

You would need the same audio codec as the one you used when you originally created the .AVI...
