Hi,
nowadays i use GKnot or MeGUI under Windows for transcoding DVD's to XviD etc.
For long time i planned to switch from Windows to Linux but i never had an idea how to encode my Files under Linux.
Could you recommend me a tool similar to GKnot?
I heard form DVD::Rip an several other GUI's but could you recommend me one suitable for an ex- Windows User?

When you enter any forum or sub-forum, the first place to stop and look for information before you post are the stickies and FAQs. Did you do that? Missed this (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=89543)?

Of course i read the stickies, but there are many programs mentioned and i just want to hear some suggestions from users that had the same issue like me, comming from windows to linux and dont know which tool to use.
I just want an easy to use prog to convert DVD to XviD and so i want to know what other users use.

I will go out on a limb and say couple of things: that 90% of the users who use *nix are ex- or even current Win users. And most of the stuff mentioned there *are* what people use.
But incase you want to hear it again, I believe most people will be using dvd::rip/mencoder or WINE + some of your familiar Windows apps. Best way to know is to try them for yourself, because what works for me might not work for you. :)

THX for reply so i think first i will look what DVD::rip can do for me in XviD encoding.
I'd suggest Avidemux (http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/). It is pretty well designed and seems to be under active development.
