i can't capture in x264 compression using virtuyal vcr. everytime i try Gspot reports that the video is in vp60. what am i doing wrong. ?

I have been able to capture with x264 (at least I think I have, I don't bother to try using it, too many frames get dropped), the vp6 issue only seems to come up when I try to reconfigure the codec. It is really annoying though. I don't know if the problem is virtualVCR or vp6, or some combination of the two.

did you use gspot or someother to check whether it is x264 or not.
x264 is very configurable. on some settings it is faster than even xvid and on other it is slow as hell.

I have removed now VP6 & VP7..
and now cant capture nothing with x264..
but Hopefully there will be a x264 with a livecapture option..

x264 = CPU hungry
so you might need to use something else as x264 isnt encoding in realtime

I would avoid capturing with x264 too.
If it has to be lossy, then DivX with Quantizer on 2 for example. I wouldn't go less than that, since everything else would be too low on quality to allow for proper re-encoding.

Of course I checked to make sure.
mplayer2 -> properties -> filter list
graphedit
mp3infp gives good info too

I haven't tried virtualvcr with x264 in a long time. Even with the settings set to the fastest, it was too slow (and no interlace support). Xvid is too slow too. Only divx505 is fast enough for my capture needs.

I thought I managed to capture with x264 though (it was a long time ago, so maybe I am imagining things, there was some trick to it...).
