What software is good for DVD to DivX conversion?

I have audio and video synchronization problem on certain DVD's by using software called #1 DVD ripper.

could anyone tell me what other software is good to use for the conversion from DVD to DivX?

My personal favorite is "MPEG Mediator", for use with already decrypted DVDs...

Other choices would include avi.net, staxrip and Divx Dr2 (turning into a good product).

But if you are having audio sync problems there are only two programs that I can recommend.

MPEG Mediator (mentioned above) and Fair Use Wizard. Both of these programs do a significanly better job with audio sync than most of the programs out there.

I tried the Mpeg mediator today.

1.Audio and Video synchronization was successful.

2. I might have to get used to 720x544 and not 640x480.

3. But I have a real problem, The new DVD that was created by DVD2one to combine from title1 and title3 to newly created title1 after title 2's being thrown out. Mpeg Mediator fills the offset duration due to title2 with the first frame from title 3.

Is this problem known before? or it was just me that happened.

You don't need to use DVDOne or anything fancy just make a standard Data DVD and copy the *.avi files to it.

Of course to play these files you will need to have a DivX compatable DVD player.

MPEG Mediator was the best among what I've tried.
Audio and Video synchronization was flawless.

My apology on not reading readme.txt more carefully before I posted. MPEG Mediator's readme.txt says that it does not support "Seamless Branching"

Most of my DVD's are seemlessly joined(branched) DVD's by DVD2one. I took out commercials in between or the same repeated theme songs in the middle of each DVD episode.

I will encode my DVD's without a seam(or a seamless) first with MPEG mediator. In the mean time, I'll search for a converter that can handle seam-related

Currently, I have only one software(PowerDVD) that can tell me as to what the actual resolution and FPS of DVD is. But I am not sure if PowerDVD reports in correctly.


I have this DVD that shows its movie wider than 720:480 ratio.

PowerDVD (configuration --> information) reports this DVD as30FPS and 720x480.

MPEG mediator encords this DVD as 720x416 with 24FPS (24 was automatically chosen) (resizing=lock aspect ratio)

Which setting of MPEG mediator should I use for this DVD, 720x416 or 830x480?

If I choose the 720x480 for MPEG mediator as PowerDVD reported, then the output AVI looks squashed and all looks thin.
