Buying a TV card - need suggestions

My knowledge on the subject of TV cards is a little sketchy, so I hope you can all help me out. I need a TV card that can capture from an RF connection (i.e aerial) and composite (for the VCR). It needs to be PCI, and support VirtualDub so I can losslessly capture. DVB support would be nice, but isn't necessary. Price range is up to £60. Are there any recommendations?

Anything based upon the BT8x8 or Conexant 2388x chipsets. I prefer the 2388x series though. These work great with Dscaler and they also should work in VDub with proper drivers. However I prefer Dscaler for recording purposes over Vdub. It tends to be faster and the picture is usually better IMHO.

i am against that cuz my cards is a bt878 based one and DOES NOT work under virtual dub. its a pixelview playtv pro 2 btw. and also does not work in dscaler. work quite well in christv and virtual vcr though. and virtual vcr /christv both allow uncompressed or compressed.

ATI Theater 550 pro & MediaPortal works fine :)
it gives you a nice little mpeg-2 file vs a big uncompressed on outher cards ^^

I have a Pinnacle PCTV Rave card. This card is based on the BT878 chip. It works like a charm with DScaler (I use the btwincap driver btw). No dropped frames up to 640x576 on my Celeron-D 2,4GHz system with Huffyuv lossless compression.
It does work with VirtualDub, but with some serious limitations.
DScaler is the better way anyway, since you can watch deinterlaced & full screen, and capture at the same time.

Only negative point is that this model (Rave) supports Mono Sound only for RF-input.
But afaik, it isn't sold anymore, newer Pinnacle PCTV products all support stereo sound for RF-input.
Hauppauge models seem to be good too (for example, the WinTV Go2)
