best xvid encoder

I'm new here on this forum, and since I started working with xvid codec I learned a lot about video encoding. I was wondering is which version of xvid encoder is the best.

Describe your purposes and maybe someone can recommend something.

Do you want to know which version of the XviD codec to use or which encoding application (AutoGK, VDub, MEGui, Avidemux, StaxRip etc.)?

Is ease of use your main concern or configurability? Do you know what all the XviD settings do?

I'm sorry for that.

In most cases i use Gordian Knot 0.35.0, just to select the right resolution and do a compressibility check, and save my avs script. For encoding I use Virtual Dub . Configurability is not my concern.

That's pretty much how I handle things, too.

So, what are you looking for? If you want something easier, you could for example try AutoGK. If you look for something smarter (automated deinterlacing etc.) try MEGui. And that's about all experience I have with encoding solutions because, as said above, I do most things manually (avs-generation, audio-encoding etc.).

I'd suggest perhaps trying the latest compile (http://celticdruid.no-ip.com/xvid/) (XviD.cvs.Head.exe)... you have the benefit of recent bug fixes and in my experience they are stable. As a bonus, if you do happen to discover a bug you can assist with development by reporting it. ;)

Thanks for the hint, I will try the latest compile. I'm pretty much into gordian knot so I don't need any other aplication.
My interest is in Xvid settings.
