problem playing mencoder generated mpeg-1

Hi

I have created a few mpeg-1 files with mencoder from any format, avi, dvd..., really fast, then burned to VCD and works fine.

My problem is, when I try to play those mencoder generated mpeg-1 in WMP or another dshow based filter player I think, though I do can with mplayer, vlc. May be the problem is the lack of riff header ? If it's that so, how can I create that header.
