my Goal: to make sure even momma can install and use the necessary tools for backing up a DVD movie!

I have created this simple Easy installer a year ago for the Dutch people. Now the Startmenu shortcuts will be created correctly, no matter what language Windows is using. Therefore I decided to go international :)

DVD-ReBuilder Easy Installer, 6/2006
- A One-Click (http://dvd.yardcure.com/) Installer -
All you need to backup a DVD movie easily

________________________________

Will install:

DVDfab Decrypter 2.9.7.9
DVD-ReBuilder Free 0.97
AviSynth 2.5.6
HC Encoder 0.18

Sets DVD-ReBuilder to use HC encoder, with Best quality, use One-Click mode etc.

The Installer can be used for Silent install as well...
After install, a very Easy Guide will be shown, the user can start immediately.

I've created a very nice website, http://dvd.yardcure.com
For problems or comments, this thread can be used.

NOTE: Currently updating the site with the newest version.

EDIT:I'm not sure if this topic should be in One click DVD backup solutions (http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?f=65), moderators please move it if necessary.

I'm sure it's nice but what's wrong with the Official Installer, which works perfectly?

And what if I don't want DVD Fab Decrypter? It is not the best ripper IMO.

All the updates refer to the offical installer and you just click on the link and you're installed!

I'll stick with Rockas's installer.

The official is fine, for the people who:
know how to install it
- wich encoder to select during setup,
- wich settings to apply
- how to get the dvdmovie in dvdrebuilder

My point is, the group of people who don't know all this, who don't know wich steps should be taken to copy a DVD movie (first rip to harddisk, then rebuild, then copy video_ts to dvd by selecting DVDvideo etc.) is BIGGER then the group that does know all this, or can figure it out easily/spend time to figure it out.

The official installer gives you many options and after installation you still need to setup few things (depends on what encoder you use ofcourse) and you still need a ripper.

As I can see your signature, you obviously know a lot about backing up a dvdmovie, and how to perform install/setting up things, but most computerusers don't. And I want them to be able to copy a dvd movie as well!

Therefore, I created this Easy Installer, with one click you're done, a text will appear immediately, explaining shortly why most dvdmovies can't be copied directly and how to use the apps.
In the startmenu, the shortcuts even have numbers.. so every N00b can use it.

I created it a year ago... because in the Dutch topic on tweakers.net about dvd backupping, many people without experience on this task had many questions how to set things up and what apps to use..

About the ripper, do you know another free ripper that can handle all protections? Because DVD-Decrypter (used to be in the Easy Installer as well!) can't handle a couple of them and won't be updated anymore.
Besides that, I dvdfab is extremely easy. What do you mean with not the best? It just has to rip no matter what protection, there can be no quality difference...

I know this installer isn't meant for everyone. Just for that big group of people who don't know how and don't have the need to spend much time on figuring out wich settings/encoder/ripper etc to use.

A discussion on rippers is more applicable in the decrypting forum - suffice to say that IMO, DVDFD does not provide enough options and can result in "dirty" IFOs. A search will show you why.

I also don't want to get into a discussion on "what's best" because I would have to censor myself for breaking the rules!

Well, for ripping do what I do, and use DVD Decrypter in combination with AnyDVD. This is updated very frequently, and does appear to be updated more frequently that DVD-Fab

But thats MY choice, and its not free though

I didn't mean to start a discussion about it. But thanks for the info, I never knew that.. Just thought: as long as it can handle all protections. But never heard that one in the other forum from the users. I might consider adding dvd decrypter back again.
