Hey All,

PLEASE HELP!! I'm having major CCE problems. I've been using DVD2SVCD and CCE 2.5 for years and last week it just stop working for me. For reasons unknown to me, CCE just started freezing up. I read the forum and thought it was my memory so I bought new memory and upgraded from 512 to 1 gig, but CCE still freeze's.

So, I downloaded a new version of DVD2SVCD ver.1.2.2 build 3 and upgraded to CCE SP Trial ver 2.67.23. Downloaded EclCCE and created an EclCCE.ini file and pointed it to (CCE=C:\Program Files\Custom Technology\CCE SP Trial Version\cctspt.exe). Then opened the EcLCCE.exe file and created a progressive template according to RB's template instructions. Opened up DVD2SVCD encoder tab and selected EcLCCE.exe as the encoder and also selected the progressive template in the CCE advanced settings.

So, I feel like i've done everything correctly, because CCE is no longer freezing. With the help of EcLCCE it is now running through all of its setup, but its doing the encoding passes really quickly. I have DVD2SVCD set to 8 multipasses which should take a few hours, but now its taking less than a second to do each pass. What have I done wrong?

There's something wrong with your avs file. Open it in VDub and see what error message you get.

I re-ran my avi through DVD2SVCD and got the same result (CCE doing 8 passes in a matter of seconds rather than hours). I wasn't sure which file I was suppose to open in vdub, but I went to the output file in DVD2SVCD for the AVI I tried to encode and tried to open the newly created AviSynth_Script_file.avs file.

Vdub gave me the following error:
AVISYNTH OPEN FAILURE: Avisource couuld not decompress frame 0.
(C:\Programs\DVD2SVCD\Movie\AviSynth_Script_file.avs, line 2).

It's all a foreign launguage to me, does anyone know what its trying to tell me about why my encoding isn't working?

You need the correct codec. Install the latest codec depending on what the AVI file is encoded in.

Well, your seem to have me headed in the right direction. I've been able to trouble shoot a bunch of my AVi's and anything that won't open in vdub won't encode when I run it through DVD2SVCD. The good news is if it opens in vdub it seems to encode, but i'm still not satisfied. Why is Vdub being so picky about what it will work with? I have the correct codecs loaded. The files I can't open in vdub open and play fine on all my media players (Windows Media Player & NVDVD). So, why can't I get them to work in vdub? As far as I can tell all of my avi's are either XVID or DIVX. I downloaded both the new codecs (XviD 1.1.0 and DivX Community Codec 6.2). So, i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong. I used to be able to encode avi's I couldn't open in my media player no problem.

One last thing, this the message I get everytime an avi file won't open in vdub.

First I get this warning:
[!] AVI: Variable bitrate (VBR) audio detected. VBR audio in AVI is non-standard and you may encounter sync errors up to 17564ms when attempting to extract WAV files or processing the audio in Direct Stream Copy mode. Full Processing mode is recommended to decompress or recompress the audio. (bitrate: 130.1 ± 18.3 kbps)

Then Vdub crashes and gives me these details:

An integer division by zero occurred in module 'xvid'...
...while decompressing video frame 1 (VideoSource.cpp:1718)...
...while using input buffer at 0a5f0000-0a5f005d (VideoSource.cpp:1717)...
...while using output buffer at 01eb0000-01f5a003 (VideoSource.cpp:1716)...
...while running thread "Processing" (thread.cpp:150).

What is going on?

Do you happen to have any codec packs installed?

When you say codec packs I'm assuming you mean codecs that come with players and other audio and video assortments dealing with that particular codec. If this is what you mean, then the answer is yes. The Divx codec I just installed was a pack that came with the codec and a bunch of other things. I probably have a Xvid packet as well.

So, not sure if this is good or bad? Do you know what codecs I should definitely be using?

By codec packs I mean things like the K-Lite codec pack, Mega codec pack etc. They only give you problems.

You could try running the troublesome file through DivFix.

Thanx for all of your help Boulder :thanks:

Finally got my avi's to encode. Turns out I didn't have the correct codecs to work with vdub or any of the other programs used to encode my avi's. The ironic thing is you warned me about codec packs, but it wasn't until I downloaded K-Lite & Mega codec packs that everything started working for me.

Anyway, I'm back up and encoding again. Appreciate all of your help.
