Ive been having some problems with my tv output on my pc.
My video files play perfectly on the pc monitor but when played on my tv the video is slighty out on sync in certain places. The problems are always in the same place on the same files.
I am using a LCD TV with an s-video input and a 128mb ATI radeon video card, i recently bought a better quality s-video cable but this hasnt solved the problem. Could the problem be the video card?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using 'theatre mode' or 'exact clone' (I forget the exact wording, but it should be on the 'overlay' tab in the advanced display options)?
I have an ATI chipset in my laptop, but I have never experienced the problem you are describing.
In order for what you said to actually happen, then at some point during playback, the picture on your monitor and the picture on your TV must not be in sync with each other (they should be exact, ie. one trails slightly after the other). Is this happening?

its a sync problem between the audio and video, i only use 1 of the displays at any 1 time, for some reason the audio perfectly matches the video when playing on the pc monitor but when i play the file while its being fed to my tv the sound doesnt line up with the video.
Its only a fraction of a second but its still enough to notice.
Thanks for helping me with this!

Is your TV an LCD flat screen? Are you inputting both the audio and the video directly to the TV? A lot of those have a picture delay, which should synchronize with the audio if it's not played back with another device.

it is an LCD with a direct svideo input but the audio is being played through a seperate amp from a 5.1 soundcard.
Its definately not the sound card thats the problem tho as the sound is fine through the same speakers on the monitor instead of the TV

Have you tried inputting the sound into the TV? I never suggested that the problem was in the sound card. As mentioned, a lot of LCD TVs have a PICTURE delay which would cause the audio to become out of synch. If nothing else, install ffdshow, which will allow you to set a playback delay which you can turn on and off quite easily from the tray icon.

note to self: never buy an LCD TV that has a picture delay
I didn't even know they could have a delay... would make it impossible to play a videogame :scared:
Quick test: Plug your tv-out into a real TV, if there is no delay, then the problem is that your LCD TV has a delay.
