MP4 file playback issues

hi,
i am having some mp4 file playback issues, details below:

File is .mp4 file, with the following contents:

.mp4 video (x264 high profile)
.m4a audio X 2 (made using belight nd free aac encoder, using 0.6 and 0.4 quality modes respectively)
.idx/.sub subtitles

all these successfully muxed using yamb/mp4box latest build from kurtnoise.free.fr

the resulting mp4 file is being played in nero showtime, subs are being displayed properly, but when i try to change audio strem, it hangs, and stops responding, and i have to close it.

when trying to play the mp4 file in media player classic (latest build, with it's inbuilt subs and mp4 splitter and aac decoder feature disabled) and latest haali media splitter (subs option turned on, subs being displayed properly in avi/mkv files), no subs are being displayed, even after changing the tick marks in splitter properties!

so, can anyone help me, which player to use for playback?

Are you using the internal subtitler in mpc (so using VMR7,9) or VSfilter (overlay or Haali renderer). Because sometimes changing the sub in Haali splitter doesn't change it for the internal one (maybe I have an older version also). I personally recommned using overlay and VSfilter (it's annoyng for me that the internal one always extends the ass subs to 4/3, especially when watching a 2.35:1 movie.. ). I had sometimes such a mp4 file with vobsub subs and it worked well.

i am using overlay mode and vsfilter, with internal subtitle displayer in mpc disabled, still no luck!

Hm, in that case what remains for me to suggest is to remux all in mkv...It's not like you lose anything anyway.

you are propably still using the nero mp4 splitter, which is limited in a way that it only lets subs be used in nero showtime
try enforcing haali or mpc's mp4 splitter

edit: vobsub muxing in mp4box is still not stable afaik

I don't know about a restriction for subs. That's why I was just wondering...
