View Full Version : Splitting a disc?

Hi everyone, sorry to be asking newbie questions, but I have to learn somehow & sometime!

I own quite a number of DVD's which are actually from TV show series, so there are 4 (or sometimes 6) episodes per disc.

I understand how I can rip the disc to my HDD using DVD Decrypter (I've done it in the past).

I am of the belief that Gordion Knot (or Auto GK) will allow me to turn the ripped content into Windows Media (or something similar).

See - I'm in the process of setting up an HTPC, and I have a network to attach it to.

What I'd really *love* to do, is to rip each episode to a separate file (Windows Media, or DivX), and I can then program a menu system for myself - this way, when I wish to watch an episode, I can go straight to it.

But, what I don't get, is how to "separate" the individual episodes after ripping from the DVD? Or, is this done prior to ripping?

And, if anyone has better suggestion or ideas for converting, I will listen with great interest!

Thanks to all for any help or assistance!

Gordian Knot and AutoGK don't output Windows Media or anything similar, but DivX or XviD should suit your purposes.

To separate episodes, decrypt in .IFO mode. YOu should see a list of individual episodes in the PGC window.

Thanks for the tips, I'm experimenting now :)

Hugely appreciated (and yes, I see about .ifo mode, I have now extracted each episode - thanks!)
