View Full Version : I lost my Divx Player...

This is probably a VERY stupid question, but I have tried everything and I am stumped.

Awhile ago I updated to the new Divx 6.2.1 player, and tried to double click it to make it full screen like the Divx 6.1 player did. Well, to my surprise, when I double clicked on the player it shot out of site to the left of my screen, and i cant find it ANYWHERE, and when i open the player it goes to the same position that i accidentally sent it to.

I have tried uninstalling then reinstalling Divx Player, but the only way i can get the player to show back up is downgrading back to Divx 6.1! I even waited for a new release, the Divx 6.2.2 player, and tried updating from 6.1 straight to that and of course it shot right back to the out of site position.

I do not want to delete all of my Divx because i have the registered version of Divx Pro, and Divx converter and I dont have the old key!

Any help with getting it to come back onto my screen would be appreciated.

1 - Just an idea, did you try forcing the resolution of your monitor to a higher value..

2 - this should work (maybe..)

> launch the player
> open an explorer window (whichever)
> ctrl+alt+del
> select the process of the player
> window -> penultimate option in the menu // I don't know the english menu..

Maybe this question should be moved in the divx section?

Sorry I can't help you with the divxplayer but if your problem is how to play divx files on your PC are you aware that other players exists?

If not, 2 of them:
- VLC doesn't need any codecs and is quite universal and free here:http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
- MPC (media player classic) should work if you already have the divx codec or via ffdshow (included) and free here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=82303&package_id=84486

No... I dont have any problems playing Divx file's, nor using the software. I really love the divx player, and would like to continue using it. I had VLC before and did not like the layout. I have the pro codec as i have stated before and can use any player i'd like, but i want the Divx

I am not sure what you mean by "Select the process of the player"

In the TaskManager there's a list of all the visible processes (=programs) running on the system. There you can see the ****.exe file of the player running. Click on it to select the process.

If you are referring to DivX's stand-alone software player, I did not think it contained any direct-show decoder filters..... So loosing it should not affect your ability to play DivX encoded streams in other software media players!

If you like DivX's stand-alone software player, go back to their web-site, download it and re-install it ;)

I may have spoken too soon....

It looks as though DivX no longer distribute a stand-alone software player anymore... Their loss I guess!

I have not used this player but it is worth looking into the install dir and checking on any .ini file that 'should' have the setup in there, or you could try renaming in to *.ini.old and then run the player and it 'might' make a new one with a default location. If there is no .ini file go into the registry and change the screen settings but only do this if you understand what you are doing and don't call me names if you do it and you don't :)

Or run the player and use the ALT and TAB keys so you know your on the player and ALT & F to see if you can get into the file settings.

The last time I looked, when you install DivX's software suite it will place the following playback filters within your "system32" folder: -
divxdec.ax
DivXMedia.ax

Have you checked to see if they are there?

peoples stupidity sometimes surprises me, the solution has already been posted and people gives answers to not existing problems,
it is a WINDOW poblem not a codec/system problem. please READ the full thread and think your answer before posting.
mod's solution its the easiest.
