I posted about trouble installing forceaspi here:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=111818

Although the advice in that thread seems to be correct insofar as it lets me run smartripper and demux my DVD, I think that the failed installation of forceaspi has hosed something in my system. I have WinDVD which previously worked find for both DVDs in the drive and for backed up DVDs on the hard drive. Since installing (or rather, trying and failing to install) forceaspi, WinDVD either immediately stops playing or crashes when trying to play a DVD in the drive. It still works fine for reading backed up DVDs on the hard drive. I removed and reinstalled WinDVD but the behavior is the same.

Any ideas what I have done with Force ASPI? And how to proceed? Thanks.

Despite your failed installation, you might check in your Control Panl ("Add/Delete software") to see if ForceASPI listed. If it is, choose to uninstall it.

Afterwards, you may still have to uninstall and then reinstall WinDVD...
