any chance to skip WMP 11 to have WMA 10 pro codec settle in system?

Yes, extract wmp11 package with winrar or winzip and run only wmfdist11.exe

i know this tweak, but the wm11 runtime is still way too big...

can i just install the WMA 10 pro codec?

I think, no because is that pack wmv codecs only.

It will complain if SP2 isn't installed (and I will never install that, would be system suicide for me).

I hope a smaller more-compatible-with-older-stuff version gets released. :(

Right now it's looking like the only way is to extract wmfdist11.exe and attempt to install it manually :rolleyes:
... which could be problematic. (I had made a small attempt a couple weeks ago, and killed wma9pro playback support :angry: , I haven't tried anything more since)
