Hi,all

I'm so curious about do you guys use cd wallet or media storeage case (like Aluminum-Like case or something )to store if you have lots of media collection?
I'm currently using cd wallets to store my 500 discs backup and I'm VERY carefull with my media.
but i'd like to know the hard storage is better than cd wallets on avoid scratches?

Thanks for any info.

I've been slowly transferring my disks to slimline cases, labeling them and storing them in slide-out cases that allow the labels to be viewed. Most of my disks are still on spindles. The thing I like about the individual case is that when I pull out a disk to watch something on it, I have only a small case to handle, and I can quickly and easily put the disk back in the slimline case after I remove it from the drive. There's never a chance for it to get scratched or pick up dust.

are your backups in cd or dvd form?, cause a mere 700mb cd-r isn't worth using a... wait, are you asking if you should switch from a soft case to a hard case wallet? if so, all i can say is: "no matter the case, sticky fingers, are sticky finger"

i perfer to go with 1/2 size clear dvd cases (...eggs in one basket)

Hi :D
Personally, i prefer to use hard storage like this http://www.supermediastore.com/cd-dvd-storage-case-aluminum-metal-like-390-capacity.html to store my backups, but it seems more expensive.

For your reference.

I hate all those plastic cases, slimline or not! If you pick up a bunch they slip apart and fall all over the floor. And they are bulky. I use the paper envelopes and then store the piles vertically in little boxes like index cards.

IMO, the only very important thing to remember is that a DVD suffer when the atmosphere is not good. You should avoid hot or wet storage places, and, most important, you should protect the media from the daylight. Since most of the plastic boxes are transparent, it's definitely not a good idea to use them, unless you put them in another box!

I've had alot of experience using the cd wallets, and while they definately are more convenient, the process of inserting and removing a cd from the sleeve tends to leave scratches. For this reason, I have begun using slim cd cases to hold all of my backups. I still have a bunch of cd's in a cd wallet, but i have already backed those up yet again... I've lost a number of cd's due to frequent use.

If you need to take a number of cd's on the go, there's no better way (that i'm aware of) than to use a cd wallet. Just ensure that any cd that goes into the wallet has a backup somewhere else.
