View Full Version : Just ripping one scene from a DVD?

I have no prob backing up a full DVD (DVDfab, then shrink it). But I'd like to pop in a DVD, rip just one section (or most likely one .vob file which is a whole scene).. and then load up that vob in a program and narrow it down to a small scene, and dump that to DV or whatever format which I can then use DivX Create to make into a DivX video.

Any advice?

And reauthor mode will let me select just a 15-30 second clip of any .vob I want, and dump it to an AVI format video?

should be more in the dvd authoring forum then the one clickers

If using direct from disk you can install dvd43 (http://www.dvd43.com/) to bypass css then try DVDx (http://dvdx.sourceforge.net/)

You can load the dvd and output it in any form (also divx)

First install dvdx on your C drive then start the program and select :
File -> Open DVDroot or mpegfiles"vobs
Select your title:

@ the input click OK (set subs).
Move the slider to the start of your scene or use next (chapters)

Then set the output settings, you can choose your format video/audio size...

Then select the Max frame field and enter the number of frames you like.

Then choose your output name:
file -> select output file

And hit the red button.

This is exactly what I was looking for.. accessing VOBs on disk and dumping small sections to MPG or AVI. Thanks!

I took a shot.. for some reason, the final video file I create runs at a fast frame rate.. and the audio tries to jump to keep up. Input video is 720x480 29.97Hz.. so I have the "input settings" set to 29.97fps NTSC. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Too what kind of format did you convert the clip ? Have you tried other formats ? I normaly work with PAL so i don't see this effect but have some NTSC disks, still need to know your output settings.
