How come the movie is 720x480 but the snapshot comes out as a 640x480?.

MPC saves a non-anamorphic snapshot, which for a 4:3 source is 640x480. If you really need an anamorphic snapshot you can load the dvd into an editor (avisynth, virtualdub-mpeg2, etc) but why would you want one all stretched out?

So MPC is taking non-anamorphic snapshots out of anamorphic movies?.

Hi Waleska,

Which direct-show "Output" overlay render setting are you using in MediaPlayer Classic.

Different output settings will produce different still captures!

Hi, thanks for the hints. I just tried different outputs and I got captures in different sizes, and sometimes it would seem that MPC captured the size of the current window and not the movie's because it gave me strange resolutions such as 850x490, etc. Anyhow, I did a test with a couple of 4:3 720x480 movies and one gave me the correct size while the other reduced it to 640x480. Why would this happen?, I'm currently using VMR9, which's what I was using when I started the topic.
