Hi, I have adobe encore dvd 2.0 and I was wondering if there is a way to import movies to make a dvd that are not the standard resolution sizes. I have random funny videos found from various places that I just want to make into a dvd but the program only allows certain resolutions. I know this forum isn't for dvd making, but I thought someone might know how to do this since this is a dvd forum and I am new to this.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Hi!I was wondering if there is a way to import movies to make a dvd that are not the standard resolution sizes.I don't believe any commercial DVD authoring program will allow you to use anything other than DVD-compliant video and audio requirements (including video resolutions)...

What program would allow me to make a dvd with any format video? I can look into getting a different program if need be.

Thanks.

If your intent is to make a DVD that plays AS A DVD, then again, I don't believe there is any DVD authoring program that will you allow you to do that - because the DVd would not be playable...

Hmm, I see what you are saying. Is there a program to convert resolution sizes, and make the format of the videos i have to that of a DVD video?

Another quick question I have is that sometimes while importing a video to adobe encore I get this message:

"The software that's used to decode the media is not available on this system. Installing the correct decoders for the files you are working may help to correct the problem."

What are the correct decoders I need? And where do I get them?

I still have the previous question as well, thanks for any help.

Adobe Encore is a very poor choice for your purposes. It's a powerful tool for constructing DVDs using DVD-compliant material, but it wasn't designed to import various formats. There are many tools available to transcode files to a more usable format, and there are a few drag-and-drop applications that can convert and burn (such as Roxio DVD Builder).

As far as needing a codec, which you'll need regardless of the application used, there's always Google.

Thanks for the help CWR03,

I got a roxio dvd program that seems to be working well, but after only adding a few videos it makes the size of the dvd larger than the 4.7gb of space. I know there isn't that much video on there to take up all the space, so how do I change it so I can get like 4gb of video on the dvd?

Thanks again, and sorry for dragging this out!

If you have Roxio's version 7 software you can adjust the compression and have approximately four hours of video on a standard DVD5. If you have version 6, the most you can do is create an .ISO with enough video added to the project to make the disk around 8GB, then import that into DVD Shrink. Version 6 doesn't allow for compression.

I have roxio my DVD premiere 8, how would I change the compression in that, I looked and could only change the quality from best to low and even at low its still not going to fit all I think it should. It might be easier just to import it into dvd shrink, but I'm not exactly sure how to do that either. If ya could tell me that would be great but I will keep trying to figure out. Thanks for the help!
