Hello,
All i want to know is that what actually this "ASAP.4CC codec" really are.
Note: my friend re-installed OS WinXP SP1. with all the same (previously installed) programs installed, nothing missing.
but the problems is few of video files unreadble by certain encoding program (Cucusoft and TMPGenc). its said that "can't find a codec for your avi files ... ASAP.4CC:
by the way its all okay with WMM, but that WMV fls created still can't be open with Cucusoft and TMPGenc, again its still facing the same problem.
Actually that video fls can be opened and played with most of the player and no problems, now and before, and readble by both of above said softwares before this OS reinstallations.

anyone have any idea about this?

note: sorry for the terms used - i am novice.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

You might be able to find what you are looking for here:

Thank you jggimi,

But as I go through the search links you give what I found is that they said:

"No results were found containing codec asap 4cc In Long Description"

and/or all about a lot of people keep asking the same question but left with no answer such as here at this:

http://www.moviecodec.com/topics/2084p1.html

And at

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/249275

a guy said that even the codec's supports provided by the Cucusoft itself installed, still does not make it works.

So now it makes me more curious to know what is this "ASAP.4CC: " thing really are?
Is it really a kind of video streaming codec?
Or perhaps some other thing associated with "java script" or "compability issue" or what?
I think it is very helpful if someone could answer this since all the search links provided so far give no or no real answer at all.
And I do believe a lot of people experiences this problem but perhaps just give it up.
By the way, I hope this "forum.doom9.org" could give them and us that keen to know with some light, which it is here basically most people discussing issues associated with video codec’s and alike.

anyone, help please.

What I saw from the google search appears to show it as an xvid hack. If you use a 4cc changer like those included in some versions of xvid (or just use a hex editor), you might get it working that way.

Thank you for your response, it’s seemed that you did know something helpful about this mess, but again, I am a novice, could you figure it out a bit more in details?
