Often when I try to do something to videos they don't like, it will make the codec go crazy and start decoding videos weird, with like bright ty dye colors or no colors, weird stuff like that. A restart will always fix this, but I don't like restarting my computer often (because this happens often). Is there anyway to like restart the codec or end its process or anything to this extent that would simulate what a restart does to it?

I'm guessing this could be some sort of hardware issue. How often does your computer crash in general?
As to fixing the problem, there is probably no way to do this quickly, restart will be the only solution :(

Specify the codec and give us a step-by-step procedure to duplicate the problem. Otherwise, good luck!
