Brand: Imation
Type: DVD-R
Max write speed: 8x
Retailer: Target

DVD Burner: SONY DVD+-RW Q58A
DVD burning software: DVD Decrypter, imaging with DVD Shrink 3.2

When I try to burn a DVD .ISO image onto a blank disc, I get the following Error Message:

I/O Error!

Device: [1:0:0] SONY DVD+-RW Q58A UDS1 (D:) (ATA)

ScsiStatus: 0x02
Interpretation: Check Condition

CDB: 2A 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 20 00
Interpretation: Write (10) – Sectors: 0-31

Sense Area: 70 00 05 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 26 00 00 00 00 00

What do you think is conflicting with my DVD Burner? I have a brand new Dell Laptop. I removed the Roxio program as well. Is there something I am doing wrong or is there something that I need to change? Thank you.

You may try DVD+R instead. You may also want to try burning with ImgDrive since it has compatibility with more, newer drives.

@kqgator22

Hi!

I'm fairly certain that "CWR03" meant "IMGBurn" and not "IMGDrive"...

Also, you might want to try higher quality media, such as Verbatim, Maxell, or SONY (made in Japan) - and burn at 4X...

Not sure Maxell is good enough. I've tried to burn some Maxell DVD+R DL and it was horrible! IMO, only Verbatim is really reliable. Philips and TDK may be good also, but without guarantee.

@r0lZ

I've found Maxell's SL media to be consistently excellent (Otherwise, I wouldn't have suggested it ;>} )

Good to know. But avoid DLs!
I have many good Imation (SL), too.

Okay, imgburn gives same problem. I tried with 2 different media, both of which have been working for months in other burners. One is obviously better, and that's the log I've attached. If anyone can help with this, I'd be extremely grateful.

@purplcircles

Hi!I tried with 2 different media, both of which have been working for months in other burnersThe fact that the media works with OTHER burners does not mean it will work with the burner in your new laptop...

Thanks setarip, I'd read that. That's why I tried both kinds. The second were the best quality I've found around here(Verbatim). The others were considerably lower quality(Imation or something) The only thing on the golden rules of burning I haven't tried is the firmware update. I'll be trying that next. I've actually had some big pains like this with my stand alone Sony drive last Spring. I wonder if Sony drives are always this way, or if I'm just glutton for punishment? lol I've used up the last of the 2 kinds I had, so I'll try getting another kind to try.

The MOST important rule of burning, "golden" or otherwise, is compatibility.

To determine the capabilities/limitations of your DVD burner, as well as media compatibility, go to:

www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdwriters

(If necessary, open the Device Manager in the Control Panel to determine the make and model number)

To determine the capabilities/limitations of your specific brand and model of standalone DVD player, as well as media compatibility, go to:
