I'm trying to get some rips I've made with MeGui (x.264) and some with AutoGK (xvid) into a the streamable Flash format .flv which can use a few codecs I guess but I assume I would use vp6.
The Flash Video Encoder that comes with Flash 8 is giving me an error but doesn't tell me anything descriptive. Even though these files are on the list of ones it says it can encode from, it seems like it's not able to read them at all. Any ideas?
Why don't you rip directly to flash video (or at least VP6) from the original source?

The Flash Video Converter doesn't handle vobs. That's the only source I have and it would be a big headache to locate a different source from whoever put together these particular DVDs I have even though the company that made (funded the making of) them gave permission for their use.

It does support AVISynth input though. So couldn't you just load the script from MeGUI?

I'm back to messing aroung with this some more. I've been using some app called Super to make an h.264 file in the .mov container. This is working with movies with one .vob file but I'm thinking it will be much easier to use the AVISynth file with the built in Flash encoder. My problem is it encodes the video but then I don't know how to mux in the audio.

If you just want a good streamable codec then try the new Microsoft Windows Media 9 advanced profile codec. That works great for me and it comes close to H.264 compression and is about on par with DIVX.

It needs to go through flash. That being the case I want to use the vp6 codec.

K. I think I'm good to go now. I just had to learn a little bit of avs scripting. I'm taking the script that MEgui makes, converting the demuxed audio to a 1 or 2 channel wav in BeLight, and changing the script a bit to dub them together. The FLV encoder seems to be taking it well but crashes right at the end of the encode and gives on of those send/don't send errors from windows. The resulting .flv file seems fine and loads in flash without a problem so I guess I'll just ignore the errors. This makes is tough to do a batch of files though.
