View Full Version : DVD Rebuilder not playing nice with CCE.

Hello. Let me preface this post by saying that my computer is stable for 24 hrs of prime95 overclocked, and at stock, that I have done(and continue to do) 22 hr long CCE batch encodes before successfully, and that DVD Shrink runs fine on here. Encoding 720p streams to MPEG2 using six passes, decomb and lanczos resize takes a while.

I used to do runs with DVD Rebuilder fine, however now, for some reason, it doesn't want to encode with CCE. CCE the process will show 00 processor usage, and it won't show a screen of CCE encoding anything. Then if I quit DVD Rebuilder and try to start up CCE myself, it won't start up, it'll show up as a process but with no CPU usage and I won't see anything, and the only way to fix it is to reboot.

Wheather this problem occurs after DVD Rebuilder has CCE encode some of the movie, or if it occurs from the second I hit encode, it always happens. I tried reinstalling DVD Rebuilder pro, I tried the free one, I tried older versions of CCE, trial versions, but nothing seems to work.

Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions for this problem? I much prefer rebuilder to shrink but this issue is keeping me from using rebuilder. :(

Do you have problems when using a different encoder...HC or QuEnc?
Does this problem occur with one particular dvd or with any dvd backup you try?

I've had that happen to me a couple of times over the past year. I reinstalled CCE and the problem went away.

Not sure what causes this, but I don't think its DVD Rebuilder that's the problem.

It happens with any DVD I try to encode. I tried ripping them to different drives. I also tried selecting the folder on the DVD in the actual drive, opposed to using daemon tools.

I am not sure with QuEnc. I don't use it. Regardless of the average bitrate I tell it to use, it always uses half, and the video comes out looking vert different from the source file, so I stopped using it.

I reinstalled CCE more times than I can count.

CCE has been encoding snce 12:30 today, 720p --> HDTV, six passes, so I don't know what is going on with rebuilder. :(

Lanczos resize? What size are you creating?

I only use lanczos for my HDTV to DVD encodes to downsize from 1280x720 to 720x480, not in rebuilder.

1. What version of CCE are you using?
2. Have you tried it without overclocking?
3. Watch out for "customized" versions of CCE. There are some hacks that are very poorly done and cause it to hang. I highly recommend buying CCE Basic.
4. What kind of processor?

Running Prime95 doesn't cut it for testing overclocking. I've seen dozens of reports where Prime95 or other testing tools showed overclocking to be fine -- but CCE would fail (but work when run at standard clock speeds). CCE is the ultimate overclocking test tool. If you've increased you FSB speed you may want to also check your memory.

This has to be something related to your computer or CCE configuration -- because it isn't being reported by anyone else. If the task manager is showing 0% CPU usage, I don't think your process will ever finish -- because it isn't really running.
