I have an avi file that I cannot get the audio into sync when converting to DVD.

The avi files has an ac3 audio source.
It plays fine as an avi, in sync with the picture.

But when I convert to a DVD using dvd2svcd, I the audio is out of sync.

The audio comes first, before the lips moving.

I have attempted to adjust the audio delay on the avi files by using VirtualDubMod 1.5.10 and going to the audio stream and an audio skew correction. I have tried random values, even up to +20,000 however, each time I convert the audio is always out of sync by the same amount, no matter what value I use.

I have also attempted to use jsoto delaycut, but it also does not do anything, the audio is constantly out of sync by the same amount in the resulting DVD.

Now to prepair the avi for conversion, this is what I do.
I open it in virtualdubmod 1.5.10 I click Video DIRECT STEAM COPY and save it to a new file. Also I have attempted to manual introduce a positive audio delay as mentioned above.

What else can I do? What am I missing? It must be something stupid on my part.

P.S. I have also attempted to select DO NOT CONVERT AUDIO USE SOURCE AUDIO in dvd2svcd, but same result.

Would it be better if I convert the ac3 to an mp3? Is that possible?

Just use AC3 Audio Corrector to add a delay at the start of the ac3 file, then author it with your video file. This is a common problem.

i used to get the same problem when converted *.avi

*.avi, dvds and theaters all have the same thing that pisses me off, START THE MOVIE!!! START THE MOVIE!!!

so when i did, problem solved

> What?

nobody wants to see the 21 Century, FOX, or Miramax intro, don't bother encoding that part and problem "should" be solved; well, at least for me it does
