didnt know if i shoulda posted this here, or in the 'other encoders'.

i understand that if you enable qmatopt (aqm) that it allows autoqmatenc to select which matrix would be best. if so, does it have its own set of matrices that it uses, or does it use the matrices you have in your DVD-RB folder?

if you enable QMatOpt, does it matter what matrices you select in the DVD-RB options, or will DVD-RB ignore those settings, and allow AutoQMatEnc to do its thing?

also, i heard you need to enable ConvertToYUY2() with CCE... do you have to enable this with AQME?

ive used CCE 2.70 and HC 0.18 and i just tried AutoQMatEnc with DVD-RB and QMatOpt enabled, and so far, im very impressed with the results.

As the program is based on avcodec(?), it probably doesn't need converting to YUY2.

Neither. QMatOp analyses the frames and generates unique matrix specially for this movie.

It doesn't matter. DVD-RB will not ignore the settings (the matrix would be included in the .ecl),but AQM will.;)

You're absolutely correct: libavcodec is the 'engine' of AQE (but AQE isn't 'just a frontend' of avcodec, with a hard job done by SAPSTAR in order to do it good and reliable ;) ).
