how to tell if it is interlaced encoded?

hi, I am wondering if there is any tool or way to find out if an xvid-encoded/MPEG4-encoded video file is interlaced (I don't mean if it came from an interlaced source). I hope you understand what I am asking...

MPEG4modifier can tell you if an XviD AVI file is encoded as interlaced. Of course, this doesn't mean the file itself is interlaced.
