I am new here to the forums, so please do bear with me. I hope this was the right place to put my question, mods please shift it to the correct section if i am wrong.

My DVD player is not compatible with playing Divx CDs or Xvid Movies, Its a normal player that plays VCDs and DVDs.
I have 3-4 Xvid (.avi) movies say 700MB each (2-3MB + - ), How do i make One DVD with 3 / 4 (max) Xvid movies, with titles etc.

I have tried all softwares possible from TMPGEnc XPress to DVD Shrink to DVD Author to DVD Creator etc. but non of them create a MPEG-2 DVD file that is clean and compatible with DVD Lab Pro. DVD Lab Pro shows me errors on every movie file i convert with any software.

If someone would be kind enough to guide me to a tutorial or a software and its appropriate conversion constraints so that if each move size is even 1200MB (1.2GB) that would help me create a DVD with 3 movies and titles etc.

Thankx in advance
Regards.

Hi!

One set of procedures (other posters may/probably will suggest alternative methods) would be:

1) Use "TMPGEnc" (or "TMPGEncPlus") to convert the .AVI
(DivX-compressed or otherwise) to compliant MPEG2-for-DVD format - Use "TMPGEnc's" DVD wizard/template to accomplish this

2) Use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" v.1.6 (a different program than
"TMPGEnc") to easily create the required additional DVD files and structure (and chapters and a menu, if you wish)
You can obtain a FULLY functional free 30 day trial version of this commercial program at:

http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/download/tda16.html

**If the combined filesize of the DVD "package" written to your hard drive is greater than 4.37Gb, use DVD Shrink (or similar) to compress

If your O/S is either Win2000 or WinXP, TMPGEnc DVD Author can also burn your DVD. Otherwise, use NERO to burn in "DVD-Video" mode
(As an alternative to "TMPGEnc DVD Author", you could use
"DVDLab")

Let us know of your success ;>}

Thankx for your quick reply setarip_old, as u mentioned .. i tried converting the xvid files with TMPGEncPlus but it always shows the file size to be greater than 4.7 GB .. so i stop conversion .. as u suggested i WILL continue conversion with TMPGEncPlus and see how big the file gets, but then later using DVD Shrink is a problem cause i dont know the right settings.

If someone could suggest alternatives, or the right conversion constraints for TMPGEncPlus and DVD Shrink, i would be grateful.

Regards.

but then later using DVD Shrink is a problem cause i dont know the right settings. With DVD Shrink's Compression Level set to "Automatic" (That's its default setting), you'll simply have to select "Backup!"...

Try using the original DVDs as input and not the AVI files.

So i only need a .avi file in DVD Shrink ?Nooo! - Please carefully RE-read my initial post to this thread. It clearly indicates that you must first use "TMPGEnc" to convert the .AVI, then use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" - and then, if necessary, use DVD Shrink...

For one, you can't use avi's directly with DVD Shrink.

For another you could try setting the bitrate used in TMPGenc to restrict your file size.

You could also try using HC or D2MP or AVI2DVD or a host of other programs to get what you want. Search around a little. Also try www.videohelp.com It should help you find what you need.

Just my two cents.

Or you can use tools like DIKO (http://vmesquita.com) to do that in a more simpler way!!! and convert .avi to DVD directly.
