Hi guys, I have a problem, I just downloaded a game trailer from THD (http://www4.tomshardware.com/site/downloads/e32006_crysis_h264_1mbps.zip) and no matter what I use it won't play in either MPC or WMP, but QT palys it perfectly fine. I tried ffdshow (from x264.nl) and I even dug up the very old alpha test of that coreavc thingie (I didn't even think I still had that) that BetaBoy had up here way back in a day (I don't have the latest one). No go, the progress slider just doesn't advance.

I tried remuxing just audio, and it workd. If I remux video alone it won't play, just like the full file. Can someone else try it?

It's worth mentioning that my own x264 files as well as any sample that get linked around here (and apple trailers), all play perfectly.

Thanx guys!

This is brought to light here and there are some clues in threed after it.

I wonder what software was used to create those videos.

odd that thread seems to imply that that's a coreavc only issue and libavcodec (ffdshow) should handle it... but it doesn't on mine, maybe I just have an old build or something, I'll look around for newer stuff.

when you are updating your FFDShow first uninstall old one and make sure it is gone. I noticed that sometimes filter is in use and can't be removed or replaced. (sometimes restart is needed to remove it manualy).

I tested SSE2 FFDShow builid from http://x264.nl/ and it plays that video fine.

my ffdshow also plays it

but coreavc doesnt, might be a coreavc bug. the file looks fine

sorry for delay with reply, but yeah, the latest ffdshow at x264.nl fixed it right up, I probably had a faulty install or very old build or both.

thanx again!

Video tested without problems with:
1. VLC media player: 0.86-svn-20060523-0000
2. MPUI 1.1.8 build 30 + MPlayer dev-CVS-060515-06:00-4.0.3
3. FFDShow 2546 (gcc4.0.3-sse-x264.nl)
