View Full Version : Compilation difficulties
Hi all,
You guys were a huge help to me before and I was hoping that you could help me out again.
I have a collection of VOB files that I would like to re-author using MyDVD. So far I've been unable to import these files into MyDVD. Is there a utility that I can use to convert these files? And if so what should I convert them to?

Hi!I have a collection of VOB files that I would like to re-author using MyDVD...Is there a utility that I can use to convert these files?If by "re-author" you mean "create a DVD", why would you want to convert the .VOBs to any other format? .VOBs are already in DVD-compliant format...
Well, I'd like to have menus so I can select particular tracks. And the MyDVD software that I'm using won't import these files.

And thanks again Setarip.

I'm sorry, but you've totally confused me now. If you already have the .VOBs on your hard drive, that would mean that they were ripped from DVDs - which already have menus. So why don't/didn't you just rip and copy the full DVDs?
Perhaps a moderator or another member can help you further...
Sorry to be so obtuse :o
Anyway, the reason I didn't copy the full discs is that I wanted to have a DVD of the trailers for a bunch of movies that I have, so if I don't know exactly what I'm in the mood for I can pop in the disc, select a genre or time period (say, eighties horror) and then when a title strikes me I can grab the actual movie DVD and pop it in.
Does that make sense? (and more importantly, that doesn't break any forum rules does it?)

Thanks for clarifying ;>}
For the purpose you've stated, you should be readily able to use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" v.1.6. You can obtain a FULLY functional free 30 day trial version of this commercial program at:
http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/download/tda16.html
I'll give that a shot. Thanks again,

Please post back to let us know how it goes ;>}
So far so good. I'm still playing around with the order of the videos but aside from that it's working great.
Thanks yet again :)
