720p60 - Can you play this XviD file smoothly?

Hi, I finally managed to register here. :) (not an easy feat considering the confirmation emails from doom9 are corrupted and the "contact an admin" emails bounce):angry:

On to my problem: I have been looking for ways to reencode proper 720p60 HDTV MPEG2 content down to more sane sizes. The problem is that the files I create with XviD play fine on my system using Overlay Mixer but not when using any VMR modes. This leads me to believe that the problem is with my graphics card or driver. So simple question: can you play this file play without dropping frames at 60 fps in VMR9 mode and what are your system specs?

AMD Opteron 144 @2.6 Ghz
Geforce 6600 GT 128 MB AGP
Asrock Dual SataII
512 MB RAM
Video Decoders tested: FFDShow, XviD

There are several reasons why I much prefer VMR9 but I don't want to discuss this in this thread. One would be that Overlay makes DScaler crash.

Ah nice, those are the closest specs to mine I have seen yet. In fact if you could disable one core (don't know if thats possible in BIOS or something) and you could still play the file then would be convinced that the problem is my GPU.


About the cross-posting issue: I just noticed that this forum allows me to edit thread titles so I hope you are all happy now and that this thread can continue on topic.
