"Cheaper by the Dozen 2"

A word of caution regarding FULL DVD ripping of the region 1 version of "Cheaper by the Dozen 2" - PLAY your burned DVD on a standalone player to make sure that once the menuscreen appears and you select "Play" that it then actually starts the movie!

If you haven't already done this, you may discover that a few seconds after selecting "Play" your player switches to "Stop" mode. Please note that, if your player behaves this way, you haven't created a coaster - just a less than perfect DVD, because when the player goes to "Stop" mode, simply pressing the "Play" button on your remote will start the movie.

From what I've seen and the corrective measure I've taken, this problem is caused by removal of one or some ".VOB PUOs".

if you've ripped the DVD as a "package" of .IFOs, .BUPs, and .VOBs, the simplest way to correct the situation, regardless of which ripping program you've used, is to simply replace all of the .IFOs and .BUPs in your hard drive DVD "package" with the original ones from the commercial DVD.

(As an alternative, if you're using a ripping program that allows you to choose whether to remove .IFO PUOs and or VOB PUOs, choose NOT to remove them)

Setarip, I ripped it using only DVD Shrink, and a full burn. I have experienced no problems. My guess would be this problem will only exibit itself in certain players.

On the other hand, I'd ask if your DVD Shrink settings in "Preferences">>"Output Files" does or doesn't have a checkmark next to "Remove P-UOPs"?

At your request I have checked my Output File settings, under preferences. Remove P-UOPs is checkmarked. If you hadn't asked, I probably would never have checked. Thanks.

IF this is casued by VOB PUOps, how would replacing the IFOs and BUPs with the originals help? The VOB PUops are still not there.

Plus, the original IFOs and BUPs would usually have different start sectors (DVD Decrypter, for example, corrects these as it packs the files together).

Plus, if they have ARccOS, the cell pointers won't line up.

Probably the easiest way I know to make a coaster.

Ripping an ARccOS DVD (eg CBTD2) involves a lot of patching of the IFOs. Putting back the originals is not recommended.

Perhaps setarip has a bad sector at the start of his burn? He could perhaps clean his DVD or DVD players (Maxell makes a good cleaning kit which retails for approximately US$10).

As those of us who have purchased the Region1 version of this DVD know, neither the widescreen version or the fullscreen version of this "flipper" contains "ARccOS" copy protection (only CSS) - while ripping either side/version of the always-cleaned-before-burning DVD with a pristine burner results in the identical (mis)/behavior - and substituting the original .IFOs and .BUPs for the ripped ones of both WS and FS versions alleviates the odd behavior...

If there were IFO PUOps, you can easily put them back in PgcEdit (http://www.videohelp.com/~r0lZ/pgcedit/index.html) or DVD Remake Pro (http://www.dimadsoft.com/dvdremakepro/index.php), for example.

You still need the IFOs patched for the ARccOS.

If there is something in the IFOs, eg angles, then you can fix them quite easily. You might like to email me the IFOs - I'll be happy to take a look at them for you.
