Hello Friends!
I want to copy a DVD movie to my HDD which later I want to write back to a DVD. Is it possible to use CCE to encode and copy the movie. Further, if I copy the movie in MPEG2 format, will it retain the multiple subtitle that are present in the original movie.
Please also guide me the softwares that can be used to rip the movie to my HDD with subtitles in MPEG format and also the softwares that can help me to later write back the movie to another disk. As I want to compress the movie and add menus for the later stage, a guide for the same will be very helpful.
Thank you.

Hi!
If I understand all of your intentions correctly, you need only use DVD Shrink or similar to create a compressed DVD "package" on your hard drive...

Problem in using DVD shrink is that it compresses the movie and stores them in the same DVD structure. Now when I want to merge two movies in a single DVD, it doesn't allow me to create menus. I have a few other softwares with which I can create DVD menus, but the problem is that they dont recodnize the vob format. They all ask mpg format as the input.

Both Adobe Encore (http://www.adobe.com/products/encore/) and DVDlab-Pro (http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/) allow you to import VOBs as media. Each program will demux the VOBs for you. Of course, both of these packages cost money. If all you need is a demuxer, there are free ones available, such as Vobrator (http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=Vobrator).
You may also want to try Titlewriter. You can join the 2 DVDs using DVD Shrink in Reauthor mode. Then use Titlewriter and the side download "SimpleMenus" to reinsert a menu that lets you use both DVDs on the same disk. That is a of course if they are different DVDs. If it is the same movie split in two, you can replace the menu with the original.
