Capturing Video, Canon Elura 100 to computer

Hi,

I recently purchased a new,Canon Elura 100, digital camcorder. I have some family videos on tape and I would like to capture/transfer to computer and burn to disc.

Running Windows XP Pro and Pinnacle Studio 9 with firewire (IEEE 1394) cable. I can't seem to get the computer to recognize the camcorder.

I captured some video last year using an older Sony camcorder so I know this computer is capable of the task, but I can't seem to get it to work with the new camcorder. Any advice would be welcomed.

Tried the usual things?
- replace/try with other card, or check the device manager to see if its running properly (no "!" icon)
- replace/try with other cable
- replace/try with other 1394 device to rule out that the camcorder is broken

My card sometimes doesnt work showing the yellow "!" icon in device manager. Rebooting usually fixes that - though it works flawless on another motherboard.
I also had a broken cable once (looked totally 'normal') so you may want to look at that aswell.
