How To use cyberlinks mpeg2 decoder in MPC?

Hallo, i want to know how i can user the decoders of powerdvd in MPC.

i added Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD7) in the 'external filter' menu and checked prefer, but the result is a very slow playback :(

what is the proper way?

Did you also right click >> filters and confirm that "Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder" is being used and listed? Left click this filter in the list and confirm that the "Use Hardware Accelerator" box is checked. If it's not checked, check it and restart MPC. Make sure it stays checked after relaunching MPC.

Make certain no other mpeg2 decoder was added to the external filters list as "prefer." If there's more than one "prefer," MPC goes by merit, I think. Also, just to be careful, deselect the internal MPC mepg decoder.

I've used the ATI Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder with MPC for a couple of years. Which splitter are you using? I usually use Elecard/Moonlight but also Nero, on occasion. It depends on the source. Recently, I used the ATI uninstaller utility to scrub everything ATI from my system (or so I thought). Upon reinstalling the drivers and decoder, the decoder was clearly not working properly as CPU went from 30% or less on HDTV playback to 80% or more. Reverting to the previous driver didn't help and I had to live with the problem until the most recent Catalyst driver release, which seems to have corrected the problem. You might try a driver update, if MPC configuration and filter configuration doesn't work.

yep did that, and i added nothing else as external filter yet

i wanted to change the mpeg decoding filter cause the internal plays not that well too.

vlc runs very well tho. (the powerdvd player itself too of course)

Maybe i have to use another splitter?

It can't hurt to try some other splitters. I've found the splitter to be just as important as the decoder--not so much for CPU load/usage but successful playback varies with the file and splitter. Forgot to mention that the internal MPC splitter works with the Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder on my system too. It's worthwhile getting this decoder to work. HDTV transport stream decode is down around 20-30% on my AMD Barton (3GHz/400 FSB)--much lower than VLC! It also deals nicely with 3:2 pulldown to yield 24 fps progressive playback.

I've never used the mainconcept splitter. If you're playing transport streams, HDTVDump.ax might help:

HDTVPump seems to connect okay to the MPC internal splitter for me, but you might need to add subtypes for other splitters:

Oh--one more tip: When trying to get acceptable playback performance, it's usually best to select the overlay renderer setting in "Options >> Playback >> Output." Or you could select VMR7 as it should use the overlay too and it provides a fps indication, which is sometimes helpful in quickly spotting poor performance. Once you find a DSF set that works with the overlay, you can try other renderers. VMR9 CPU loads can be high as it doesn't use the overlay. Haali is usually even higher, in my experience.

When I use Overlay + DXVA, CPU Load is pretty low, around 10-15%, but everything is constantly jumpy & subtitles quality also suffers.

When I use VMR7 Renderless + DXVA, CPU Load stays quiet high, constantly above 45%, but everything plays smoothly.

And when I use VMR9 Renderless + DXVA, CPU Load goes down significantly, at average it stays around 10%, but video slutters a bit.

Cool--glad you beat it into submission! Sometimes you have to add subtypes to the filter list to get things to connect too.
