View Full Version : Creating a DVD after ripping to VTS

Hello, this probably is a really stupid question but I'm really lost as how to solve it.

I started dvd decrypter in IFO mode and decrypted TWO PGC to HDD. (their numbers were VTS7 and VTS3).

Question is basically, how do i put these files without any fancy menus, just playback to a dvd without having to generate an entire dvd-image. I.e. using the ripped vob files as they are..

I tried DVDFAB with pressing create VIDEO manager but that didn't work.

Try ripping in the File Mode.

As mentioned, you can rip in File mode with DVD Decrypter, then use DVD Shrink in reauthor mode to select only the movie to burn, no menus or extras. You will then have a disk that will play just the movie, and usually with no compression so there will be no loss of quality.

Won't DVDshrink create a new VIDEO_TS compilation? I'm trying to avoid this.

Also, ripping in filemode resulted in some extra files (bup and menus). But it didn't really solve anything. In DVD Shrink it only recognizes one VTS. although i ripped two.

So you want one to play straight after the other in a standalone player?

Without using any fancy authoring apps, and if the total number of vobs in a VTS set doesnt go over 9..

You might be able to just rename the files to VTS_01_1.VOB through VTS_01_9.VOB and then use IFOedit to create new IFO's. eg. rename VTS_07_x.vob to VTS_01_x.vob and VTS_03_y.vob to VTS_01_x+y.VOB

The problem with just ripping VOB's is that you often have a heap of additional languages/subittles in there that you dont necessarily need.

Hope this helps - its rough, but it might do the job :-)

Most dvd players dont like playing VOB files without the IFO files :-) if your playing them on a PC then it doesnt matter, but to play on a standalone in a DVD format - you need to create new IFO files.

If your DVD player can play MPG files - you could always demux the VOB's and make a MPG (but its easier to author a dvd than mess about this way)
