Hello
I tried to encode 95 minutes movie with sharktooth LR and ULR matrics (and the same parameters - Qpel...), and recived the same size of movie files (about 700MB).
So how can I know which matric to use?
Thanks

2pass (or 1pass bitrate) is used to hit a specific size, quantizer-based is used to hit a specific quality regardless of size. Using different matrices will only affect how they look at that size, not how big it is.

As for picking the matrix, it's not a very exact science, and depends on how compressible the movie is. Go up until you get blocking, but that could take a lot of encodes. Or just check which looks better visually in a short encode.

Hi,

As pointed out you can visually check and/or use an app like DRFAnalyser (http://www.geocities.com/analyzerDRF) that will give you the average quantizer, other informations and a graphical quant chart for the whole movie. I use it to compare 2 encodes.

Miss understanding == misunderstanding ?
Or am I misogynous?
