Sync fix for xvid avi files

So...I just backed up one of my dvd's and found out later that the audio is out of sync and was wondering if anyone knew how to make a sync fix for it instead of reripping it? I mean a executable fix :) (.exe)

Can you please tell us what tools and process you used? It's much better to start again and do it right than to try to fix a bad encoding.

Or, you could:

Load the file into VirtualDub, VirtualDubMod, or NanDub.
Set BOTH "Video"(VirtualDub, VirtualDubMod and NanDub) and "Audio"
(VirtualDub and NanDub - VirtualDubMOD>"Streams>"Stream list") to "Direct Stream Copy".

A) If the difference between audio and video is constant throughout the

video:

From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Interleaving" (For

VirtualDubMOD, rightclick on the listed audiostream and then select

"Interleaving")
Under "Audio skew correction", set an appropriate number of

milliseconds (positive or negative) in the box labelled "Delay audio track

by"
Save with a new filename


B) If the difference increases as the movie plays:

From under the "Video" dropdown menu, select "Framerate" - and

select "Change so video and audio durations match"
Save with a new filename

I used gordian knot to encode this...well...virtualdubmod encoded the video and I used DGIndex to get the ac3 file (it's ac3 btw) and then I manually muxed the video and audio with nandub. So it was a 1,4gb avi and I splitted it in 2 parts. CD1 was ok but CD2 is out of sync :s

How did you split it?

I used nandub....direct stream copy for both video and audio

Is it possible that the split point was not on a key frame, and that Nandub then would only start exporting the second part of the video at the next keyframe, but not change the split location of the audio? Try splitting again, but now make sure that your starting frame in Nandub (or VDubMod) is on a key frame (once you determined your split point, press Shift+arrow+left: this will take you to the next key frame, and you should see [K] in the status bar. Use that keyframe as the end of your selection for the first part (that endpoint will not be included), and the start of the selection for the second part).
