I have clicked on every Megui link I can find in the forum and everyone sends me to a page with an older build.
Sourceforge is at 2116. The latest version anywhere I can find is 2146.
I am currently using 2147 that I got in Sharktooths x264 build, but there seems to be up to 2149 out there somewhere, but where?
The autoupdate doesn't work on the core until 2148 according to Sharktooth.

@ Latexxx, thanks for the link. A question: is 2149 a dev. build or a stable build?

IMHO Megui doesn't have stable releases

dev build - last stable was 2132 - best to stick to stable as the bitrate calc is brok in the dev builds - unless u dont use it or know what rate u want you can use the dev builds if you like

The ones in http://megui.org/auto are really just for autoupdate.

Regarding stable/unstable: all these builds are betas, because of the features, as buzzqw said. However, eventually when we settle down with them, we will get a chance to iron out the bugs and we'll get a stable version.

Added megui.exe to x264.nl (it can update/download the rest itself :D)

I could host some mirrors for the update page, as proven to me, serversare not always online :scared:

I've downloaded 2151 from http://megui.org/auto/ as given above, but both this version and 2149 crash when trying to autoupdate. I'm guessing this is a known problem, but what is the best way to keep up to date with info on meGUI (not for bug reports etc, just so I can keep up with what's changing/ in the works)? the meGUI dev thread has some info, but is there anywhere else I am missing? Thanks.

I don't actually know what the crash is due to, but I would probably say that it's because you didn't download the required lib files. I did warn people against using the files on http://megui.org/auto/ because they are not actually the intended packages for distribution. Look at http://x264.nl/ -- you should now find the newest builds of megui there.

There's the reason, hopefully I can avoid these oversights in future. ;) Where should a newb like me look for info? Simply keep up to date with the official meGUI threads in here?

You're not to be blamed. Most of the time, we try to make everything clear, but we went through a period of disorganisation recently for various reasons. Anyway, the MeGUI Guide should generally be a reliable source, but it also tends to be out of date. Although, except in periods of rapid change like this, there shouldn't actually be much to keep up with. Nothing to worry about.
